Hello fellow brewers,
Our next meeting will be at UBrew, Arches 29-30, 24 Old Jamaica Road, London, SE16 4AW on Monday 6th June.
This month, our special guests are once again from Toast Ale, and we will sample members beers brewed with bread as a significant adjunct. When we proposed this challenge back in march, some key challenges were put forward to the members:
- could we brew the beer at home using the published recipe?
- could we address some of the key process concerns (like increasing the bread content or improving the flavour when untoasted bread is used)?
We’ll find out on the night how people did!
In addition to the Toast sampling, we’ll also be discussing plans for next years Hayesenbrau competition.
If you have any news items that you’d like to talk about, bring them to the group. Similarly, if you have a brewing question for the Q&A section that you’d like to be answered by the group bring it along and we’ll discuss it.
If there is time after the toast session, there will be a limited amount of time for members beer tastings, dependent on how many people bring in toast based beers.
If you do bring in a beer, please remember to bring in at least two litres of it if you intend getting feedback from the whole group during the formal tasting session and can we ask any BJCP & Guild judges to please wear your badges if you are willing to taste and give feedback to anyone during the informal session.
The rough agenda for the meeting is as follows:
18:30 Arrive and get a beer
19:00 Introductions, news & updates and Q&As
19:30 Sampling of bread based beers
21:00 Members tastings (TBC)
22:00 Meeting to close
