November Meeting Roundup

A BIG thanks to Mike for his excellent and thorough introduction to German beers, including social and political contexts which have shaped the beer as much as the country over the years. And the herculean effort of bringing 2 fantastic flights of 11 different styles, from the light and spritzy Berliner Kindl Weisse at a diminutive 2.7% through Dunkels, Alts, Schwarzbiers, Kolsches to the hulking Schneider Aventinus Weizen Doppelbock at a healthy 8.2%. Even the unique ‘smoky bacon’ flavours of the Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier Maerzen were appreciated by all.

Members beers of note included a roasty Northern Brown Ale, 4 hoppy and light Bitters, a Golden Ale, an American Pale Ale and a Belgian Tripel.

Only the hardened could manage a farewell pint after all that lot, well done to the members who didn’t have 10am client meetings this morning and stayed until closing time.
