Next Meeting: December 2016

Our next meeting will be at UBrew, Arches 29-30, 24 Old Jamaica Road, London, SE16 4AW on Monday 5th December.

This month our guest speaker is Ali Capper of Stocks Farm (http://stocksfarm.net) who will be presenting on hops and hop growing.

Our special feature this meeting (as is traditional for LAB December meets) is extreme beers. So bring examples of your beer where you pushed the boundaries of your brewing, and perhaps good sense. As with any members tasting, please announce your beer on the forum. The usual rules of members tastings apply (see below), but we understand if your more unusual beers may be in limited supply. Please note if you are bringing less than 2L.

If you have any news items that you’d like to talk about, bring them to the group. Similarly, if you have a brewing question for the Q&A section that you’d like to be answered by the group bring it along and we’ll discuss it.

Members Tastings

Please remember to bring in at least two litres of beer if you intend getting feedback from the whole group during the formal tasting session.

We will be sticking to collecting feedback through table spokespeople. If you want to volunteer to be a spokesperson approach one of the setup crew or the chairman before this kicks off.

Also please announce on the forum if you intend to bring a beer or not stating:

  • Broad style category
  • Strength (in ABV, OG etc.)

This will allow us to order the tastings in a palate sensitive way. In practical terms we are limited to about 8 beers for general sampling, in the event that there is too much, preference will be shown to those who have reserved a place.

We ask any BJCP & Guild judges to please wear your badges if you are willing to taste and give feedback to anyone during the informal session.

Beer Swap

Anyone who wishes to swap beer at the meeting, please bring your labelled bottles and deposit them in the container provided. Usual rules apply:

  • 1 bottle in, 1 bottle out
  • Label should identify brewer, strength and broad style category. Handwritten labels ok too.
  • Bottles to be taken out during the break
  • Anything left at the end of the meeting is a free for all.
  • Good beer only
